Penile Cancer

Happily this is an extremely rare cancer. It is most commonly found at the foreskin or glans. As the disease progresses it is normally found as a raised lesion which is firm to the touch. It can start off as a persistent red rash either on the skin of the shaft or the glans. If this fails to respond to simple creams given by your GP then we would normally wish to see you to take a small fragment of skin away (under anaesthetic!) to look at under the microscope.

Solution

If found this early the treatment may well just be a cream. If it becomes a solid lump then surgery will be needed. Penile cancer is more curable the earlier it is discovered. It is not a disease in which it is suitable to just watch and see what happens your self. If you are worried discuss this with you GP sooner rather than later.
